Matthew 5:21–26
The Heart of the Matter | Part 1: Murder

In this message from Matthew 5:21–26, Pastor Andrew shows that Jesus goes beyond the command “Thou shalt not kill” to expose the heart behind murder: sinful anger, contempt, and hateful words. You may never take a life, but you can still “kill” with your tongue, belittling those made in God’s image and wounding brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus teaches that unresolved anger and broken relationships make our worship unacceptable until we pursue reconciliation. The heart of the matter is not just avoiding murder, but dealing honestly with anger, seeking forgiveness, and becoming a peacemaker who reflects Christ’s grace.
